ICE showcases its technology trio at PPMA 2014

PPMA Show – ICE, Stand D50
The ground-breaking Vulcan print and apply labeller from Interactive Coding Equipment (ICE) will be one of the highlights of the company’s stand at this year’s PPMA Show alongside the proven technologies of its Zodiac thermal transfer and Viper thermal inkjet models.
Launched earlier this year, the Vulcan represents a significant advance in print and apply labelling, being the first of its type to print and directly apply the label to a pack – both traded unit boxes and shrinkwrap packs – in one continuous action without the need for a tamp applicator or compressed air.
As a result, the machine can print at the speed of the line without ever missing a pack, even when they are very closely spaced, achieving speeds that are up to three times faster than traditional machines.
The Vulcan’s Intelligent Motion™ drive system has eliminated the friction drive operation found in other printer applicator technology. This ensures faster and more accurate labelling with no creasing or label dropping and no chance for labels to become trapped in the system
The ICE Zodiac thermal transfer printer has been proven in more than 7,000 installations throughout the UK. Its unique sold state ribbon drive and the absence of any wearing parts such as clutch and brakes mean the printer combines excellent reliability with the lowest cost of ownership. In addition, it offers the flexibility to operate in both intermittent and continuous modes and at very low or very high speeds. Its robust construction can also be specified to IP65 standards for easy washdown.
The ICE Viper thermal inkjet printer can print up to four lines of text at 600dpi resolution as well as bar codes, 2D data matrix codes and logos. It offer easy set up and maintenance-free operation thanks to its simple-to-replace ink jet cartridge system.
ICE will be exhibiting in a shared stand alongside Videojet and Sunala.
