The benefits of labelling
How can manufacturers use labelling to add data and traceability to products?
Labelling is used by manufacturers to add data and traceability to products. This ensures that products are easily identifiable and trackable as they make their way down the supply chain. The ICE Vulcan, the Zebra range and Clearmark's new Vector pallet labeller print labels incorporating data-embedded barcodes, such as GS1-128.
These contain data over and above a traditional barcode, for example, real-time best before dates, batch codes and the choice of over a 100 application identifiers leading to better stock management, legal compliance and automated procedures saving time and money.
The ICE Vulcan prints these barcodes using a unique on-demand labelling method that adds codes onto labels in real-time giving it the key advantage of being faster and more flexible than other systems on the market. The ICE Vulcan technology also powers the Vector pallet labeller.
Why choose the ICE Vulcan?
Accelerating packaging speeds to deliver a fast payback on investment
The ICE Vulcan Print and Apply Labelling machine is the first of its kind to print and directly apply labels onto secondary packaging, such as boxes, cases and shrink-wrapped packs in one continuous action.
It has been specifically designed to meet the demands of the packaging industry, utilising Intelligent Motion™ to automatically control the entire system with microscopic precision, whilst removing 80% of the wear parts reducing ongoing maintenance requirements.
It prints three times faster than traditional labellers and ten times faster than hand application, matching your packaging line without ever missing a pack, regardless of line throughput, build back and pack size.
A labelling solution for your industry
The ICE Vulcan has the speed, reliability and flexibility to excel in any industry with a range of printhead sizes (53mm, 107mm and 160mm) to suit the exact needs of your application. Our award-winning design team, combined with the Vulcan’s small footprint and usability means it can be perfectly integrated into your specific industry and production line, for a performance boost. For example, working with our esteemed partners the Vulcan was integrated into the first fully automated paper bagging solution (PB 800 E-Com) for the ecommerce industry, enabling address labels to be printed and applied at high speeds.
I searched for a robust, reliable and future proof print and apply labeller for our beer cases. When I found the Vulcan I was impressed with the build quality, components used and print clarity.
With up to 4,000 boxes being packed every shift, it is vital that we have little to no downtime.
The Clearmark team I have always found to be greatly responsive, and really knowledgeable no matter who you speak to. They are always on hand to offer unpressurised advice.
The Vulcan labellers have allowed us to significantly reduce label printing errors. Being able to check a job file from the office and on the coder touchscreen also provides added peace of mind.
ICE printers are reliable and print high quality code, combined with low maintenance, they have really helped to improve our overall production efficiency.
We have been very impressed by the continual reliability of the Zodiac systems and now the Vulcan too.
